TIP 1: Remove the Body, Shoes, & Springs
Carefully remove the body so you don’t mess anything up, and set it off to the side. The stock pickup shoes literally pop right off — just pull the tab forward and unhinge it from the hanger. For the springs, we like using tweezers to pull them out. A lot of times if you’ve had a crash, the shoe is gone and the spring has disappeared entirely.
TIP 2: Install Springs & Pickup Shoes
We recommend using tweezers to install the springs — it’s hard to see well and work with fingers down in that tight space. Hinge the shoe in, hold pressure, then pull the shoe forward and snap it over. Repeat on the other side. Be careful not to bend the shoes — you want them going on as naturally as possible.
TIP 3: Check the Fit
Put the car on a piece of track or a setup block and check how the shoes sit. If one is sitting too high you can adjust it by pushing gently toward the car in one spot and away from the car in another — that helps straighten it out.
